COACHES

Amanda Wheeler


Amanda is a Level I Crossfit coach, in pursuit of Level II, CrossFit nutrition coach, and co-owner of Crossfit New Species. She has been active in sports since the age of five with everything from softball and volleyball to track, snowboarding, and basketball. In college, Amanda coached Girls on the Run, an after school program that promotes health, fitness, and positive body image in young girls. After graduating from Central Michigan University with an Education degree, she became a certified personal fitness trainer through ACE. She worked at Bally Total Fitness for a year while focusing on women’s figure contest prep. Unhappy in the lifestyle, she was searching for something that allowed her to live and not be a slave to the gym. In 2007, she was introduced to Crossfit and has not found anything close to the excitement, broadness, and excellence that Crossfit is. She is so grateful for Crossfit and the life it has given her. Amanda wants to spend her life teaching and inspiring people to reach their full human potential.

Richard “Super” Power


Rich was lucky enough to travel all over the world with his fathers military career growing up. When college came knocking Mr Power spent his first two years in New Mexico playing basketball for the Lobos. Then transfering to Western Michigan, he started boxing and found his passion. Rich graduated Western Michigan in ‘03 where he worked 4 years in union labor representation/contact negotiation, he realized he needed something more physical and turned back to his first love of boxing and soon went pro. Rich’s professional career is one to watch and he is already being touted as the next super heavyweight champion of the world. Rich is responsible for all of CrossFit New Species’ boxing programming and is a certified personal trainer soon to be Level I CrossFit Coach and is co-owner of CrossFit New Species.

Joshua Hunnicutt

Josh loves everything CrossFit and Parkour. After years of training athletes and teams, finding CrossFit was like finding long lost family. His superhero obsession is thoroughly quenched by the feats CrossFit and Parkour have prepared his body to perform. Josh feels there is nothing more satisfying than watching athletes and clients achieve more than they ever thought possible. Josh is certified through mulitple organizations and has a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, is a CrossFit Level I Coach, CrossFit Nutrition Coach and CrossFit Oly lifting Coach.
